This is how we make Star kitchen
For Salse Design, a "Star Kitchen" is more than just a concept; it’s because every kitchen project has a story, with our client as the protagonist of the production. In this case, we have a television and theater star who created her kitchen with us: our dear Karine Gonthier-Hyndman.
From her prominent roles in Quebec series such as Like-Moi, Les Simone, Entre deux draps, and C’est comme ça que je t’aime to her work in theater; Karine is not only an accomplished actress but also a passionate interior design enthusiast.
She contacted us based on recommendations from her friends—the talented actors Pier-Luc Funk and Virginie Ranger-Beauregard—for whom we designed a modern, personalized dream kitchen in 2021. Much like Karine, they were delighted with Salse Design's expertise, and we were thrilled to undertake this major project with her.
Karine, with her keen eye for design, wanted to create a unique space that matched her taste for architecture and beautiful environments. Her former home on Marconi Street in Montreal, which earned her an Excellence in Architecture award in 2019, is eloquent proof of her love for elegant, well-thought-out spaces.
The Kitchen Design Process
It all began with a series of meetings at our boutique, where we discussed her desires, inspirations, and lifestyle. Together, we explored various ideas to define the overall aesthetic and the ideal materials for her new kitchen.
Karine envisioned a space that was functional, modern, and warm, while maintaining a touch of original personality. We opted for a style reminiscent of Scandinavian design, but with bolder touches to make it a truly unique project.

Le tout, des matériaux utilisés aux finitions, a été choisi pour un résultat autant raffiné qu'intemporel. De l’ilot central cuisine aux armoires de cuisine, chaque élément a été soigneusement pensé pour créer une harmonie visuelle tout en répondant aux besoins quotidiens de Karine.
Today, the actress expresses her joy in having entrusted this project to Erick Salse, a kitchen designer with over 30 years of experience. As she says herself, she was delighted with the process, feeling well-supported and heard at every stage.
She is happy to have created a kitchen that meets her needs and reflects her personality. This kitchen, bathed in light and originality, is a true haven of peace and creativity for her.
For his part, our designer, Mr. Salse, is delighted to have once again been able to give free rein to his passion for bold designs that combine aesthetics and functionality.

One of the distinctive elements of Karine's kitchen is the hood. This detail, often overlooked in standard designs, was reimagined to blend perfectly with the elegant and sophisticated aesthetic of the whole. The hood was carefully covered to melt into the space while adding a touch of discreet modernity. This exclusive Salse Design concept allowed for the creation of a clean atmosphere without sacrificing functionality. As Karine has mentioned in several of her social media posts, this detail contributes greatly to the beauty of the room.
A Bespoke Life Project
Today, Karine lives in a superb house on Gaspé Street in Montreal, where she is thrilled with her new kitchen space. We are delighted to have participated in this project and to have provided her with a kitchen that meets her expectations and her lifestyle.
